Well its about time I posted pics of my GQ and also of the engine conversion. 10 months on OL now...
Everything is working well now but when I first got the engine fitted the pricks who did it neglected to put dowels in the gearbox adapter and refused to fix their stuff up. So one ruined gearbox later and a big bill to put dowels in the plate (by someone else) and its now running sweet.
Its a 1992 model which was running gas but now petrol only
4L quad cam Toyota V8 1UZ-FE with Nissan manual
147L tank
30mm body lift & 70mm suspension lift
Koni shocks with King springs
33"x15 Wrangler MTR's
Extended sway bar mounts
Lokka in the front
Custom rock sliders
TJM front winch bar
ARB rear bar with custom wheel carrier

Thanks to:
Mario of Moorooka Mechanical
Craig of Extreme Performance
Bubs and others for advice
Outerlimits 4x4...
The mods continue, setting up as a tourer for now. Cape York next year, also want to do Simpson Desert, Victorian High Country, Tasmania, etc....
Next up is a rollbar and cargo barrier, ARB front locker or Haultech traction control - when its released, dual battery, winch (maybe) and fridge.

This should be in the members section.
Also you need your arse kicked for putting a TOYota V8 into a NISSAN

and secondly for posting it in the NISSAN SECTION.
Just taking the piss mate.

That conversion looks great. I like it very much. You could take that toyota badge off the motor.

That looks to be a very nice fit and neatly done. Was the g/box adaptor an off the shelf item? Any chance of some current fuel usage figures?

I am yet to get accurate fuel figures but I think its around 19L/100 around town.
I will soon be calibrating my new fuel gauge but I have to have to empty the tank first, then I will post more accurate figures.
The 33" tyres and lift make a big difference the the economy, oh and punching a big brick though the air at 110 doesnt help!
I am not 100% happy with the tuning yet, I dont trust the people who wired it up. I will be getting a Unichip fitted and I know that a good analysis of the performance will be done then. Then maybe get the exhaust cams done.
Its not neck-snapping but considerably more than the 4.2L six.
I have noticed more heat in the tunnel because of the extractors, have to look at a heat shield or something.
The extractors and exhaust were made by Rob Bliss and the extractors are good but the exhaust was made with no flange joints! Unbelievable. I highly recommend MufflerPro in Seventeen Mile Rocks who fixed this up for me.

Is the LPG not an option with this motor?
ie Not worth the hassle,
not compatible ( most Jap engines can run on LPG).
No room in the engine bay.
ECU issues
You wanted more power so it could be a retrograde stepto go LPG..ie two steps forward, one step back.
In closing...The conversion looks grouse.
Any issues with insurance?

No insurance hassles - not even a premium rise.
I wanted to get rid of gas to go touring (Cape York) - cant get gas everywhere I want to go.
