1 drain diff oil then strain for chunks
2 while you are under there check for loose spring packs etc etc
3 jack up one wheel at a time and check wheel bearings ..... easy way is two people; one shake the wheel then second person put brakes on and first person shake wheel again ....... if wheel bearings are loose , putting the brakes on will stop movement <---- not 100% accurate but accurate enough to give you more or less reason to investigate further ? ! ?

Turning is usually CV. Are you sure its coming from the diff? The only busted diff centres Ive seen cause the wheels to lock up off an on. Mind you they were welded diffs so maybe its different. I still think id be looking at the cv first. If its pretty well stock it takes a fair bit to bust a centre.

This is the tech section. Take your bullshit jokes and make them in Chit-Chat, not here!
And it wasn't even funny!

If he's turning into his driveway it wouldn't be in 4wd so probably not a cv. Drop your tailshaft and check the pinion for slop. The bearing may be flogged out or the nut may be loose.
