Well ATM there is only one DEDICATED ROCK event and thats XRCC!!!

TUFF TRUCK is not dedicated ROCK it does however draw the largest crowd, IMO the courses are not that difficult its just the level of competition!

XRCC will develope over time!!

There has only been 2 run so far and each time they are getting slightly better!

The Next one is in JULY and should be pretty GOOD now that TUFF TRUCK is not on we should get a few more competitors!

All the "OUTERLIMITS CREW" should be there, StrangeRover, POS, BOBTAIL and RUFF and BJ in there NEW creations! Along with hopfully Cheezy and some others from down south, TJPETE i believe should have his new Buggy going (only news on the grape vine) and the CORE brothers. These are some pretty awsome RIGS!

If you want you are more than welcome to stay at my place and get a lift up to XRCC, should only cost you for a plane ticket!!

Hope you come on over!!!! :)

Heres some of the ACTION from ROUND 0 and ROUND 1

XRCC is held at LANDCRUISER MOUNTAIN PARK, which is about 2 hrs north of BRISBANE!!!!

Fly into Brissy and i am sure we can work out for some one to pick you up!

Do you think ATM it will be just you or are there other ROCK APES coming with you!

The Date is JULY 26th and 27th, i usually try and take the friday and the Monday off work, so if you arrived anytime from Thursday night i should be fine to pick you up!

Don't get me wrong Woodpecker looks like an awesome Event, but what i have seen is its not a DEDICATED ROCK event!

I have only seen the video and magazine articles but there doesn't seem to be that much ROCK!

I think now when people say they want rock they want stuff like the STATES!!

Something like this would be good!!! :D

I never said it was, but it does have lots in it for an aussie event. I don`t think its the best just because of rock. I think it is the best because it is run very well and is setup very well for spectators as well as entrants. Plus they have around 60 rigs go through it in the one day and it starts about 7.30 to 8ish and finishes around 5 to 6pm.

An event doesn`t have to have JUST rock in it to be either good or the BEST!!!!!!

As you know I enter events from the TTC to Woodpecker and on to which challenges. I do this because I just love ALL types of driving starting with rock being my fav to mud being my lest fav, but I still love it all.

Guts go back and read the first post. The guy wants to see Rock Events not Trials type events and as Adrian said woodpecker is not a ROCK event. He never said it wasnt a good event. He said it wasnt a rock event and that is what Suprasurf wants to see.

Am i correct in my thinking that you have probs with guys that only want to compete in Dedicated Rock events?

Well Woodpecker isn`t either a winch event nore a trial, yes it allows winching but so does XRCC. Plus from what I have heard XRCC isn`t JUST rock, well round 1 wasn`t anyway

Do I have a prob? No I don`t but I can`t see anywhere in aus that you will get an event that will have JUST rock like in the states as the ywill all have some dirt and or water and or mud and or man made in them. Unfortantly we just don`t have the areas for JUST rock.

Would I like to compete in an event just like the rock events in the states? You FARKING bet your arse I would :D

Yourself along with the guys that are winging about round one having grass, water and dirt around the rocks need to do some more research on the US events because they also have a lot of water, mud, dirt, sand and grass around them. Just because the pics you all look at on Pirate dont look to have much of the above doesnt mean they dont.
If you actually speak to a few of the competitors they will tell you just how much of these other eliments there are in these events. The biggest problems they have is the loose sand that forms at the bases of the rocks they drive.

I think what you will find is that the guys crying about this want to be able to drive around a flat area that has large rocks spread across it where they dont need any strength or horsepower to clear the obstical.

Round zero all the coarses could have been driven buy a rig with stock suspension no gearing and a pair of lockers on 31" tyres. It may not have won but it was defianatly drivable in a rig like this.

Oh and XRCC there was absolutly no reason on any obstical to use a winch and me and Sam proved that.

Yeah it was a bit of a shame that ROUND 1 wasn't just ROCK, Round 0 was awesome there was ONLY ROCK no water, no dirt just rock!

I am sure he would have heard the peoples concerns and will address them next round!!

There are places that will allow a strickly ROCK EVENT here in OZ!

What i am trying to get to here is that XRCC is the closest thing to a STRICTLY ROCK EVENT here in OZ at the moment! :)

When did I or anyone for that matter say that that event was like woodpecker?

All I`m saying is that I think woodpecker is the best event in aus ATM. Then you lot started bitching about it not being in surfs requirements about a rock event. but it is.

My last quote was about what you had writen about the us events and that they are JUST rock.

Since this arvo i have quickly skimmed thru the WOODPECKER vid, there is very little ROCK compared to XRCC, yes there are pockets of it but no where near as much as round 0 and round 1!

I can't see why XRCC would not be the BEST ROCK COMP here in OZ at the moment! Yes Woodpecker has some stages with some rock but it simply doesn't compare!

Some people may have said XRCC was not all ROCK but it has the MOST out of any other COMP at this point in time!
We can't just go from driving little dirt hill climbs to MASSIVE ROCK ledges over night, as XRCC and other ROCK events progress SO WILL THE AMOUNT AND SIZE OF THE ROCKS!

The Whole thing here was suprasurf wanted to watch ROCK DRIVING most of the time like every stage not some rock on a couple of stages!

Ruff we weren't crying about anything we were told that it would be a rock only event. The Saturday events were awsum and what we drove all the way up there for.Sunday events had nothing to do with rockcrawling really but we still tried to drive them and had fun. Our main concern from the weekend was every ones interpretaition of the rules which we thought needed attention. With no DISRESPECT to any one as we all drove within the rules that were there I just think they needed to be changed so that the Trucks had to attempt each obsticle.
And Ruff you make it out like you and Sam beat everyone by a mile but remember it was only 12 points.
As stated earlier I mean NO DISRESPECT to anyone there.

Which Vid did you watch? Last years or the one before? Last years is heaps better then before.

Also I only Put Woodpecker because I think it is the best, when did I say that XRCC was crap?

GO THE SPOOKIE :D

Yeah the rules did suck and i have spoken to dave once about it and he is looking at a different set of rules! :)

I am sure over time we should be able to come up with something that will kick arse, its just like building a rig!

How many times have you built something only to change it a week or month later because it wasn't quite right!

P.S yeah i couldn't believe he didn't have the RULE "Winching in a forward direction while FLOPPED will incur a 200 point BONUS"

Posted: Thu May 15, 2003 9:50 pm

Yes Sam it was only 12 points and as you said the rules need attention and i beleive that the vehicles that drive a stage or even attempt it should have been way out in front of a vehicle that winched most of the obsticals.
Also no dis-respect towards you or any others that winched but if it were me winching would have been penalised so highly that you would have been better off DNFing before winching.
I dont beleive in winching unless it is a last resort or you have broken something.

What was realy different about the Saturday stages compared to the Sunday Stages????
Both had water both had mud and both had grass and dirt the only difference i realy noticed was that you needed HP to drive the sunday stages.

Pos you are right. There is always room for improvement . wether it is a car or event. But Dave ask for all our oppinions and when told we are now branded as wingers or having a cry.Just because we didn't agree with everyone doesn't mean we are wrong. There seems to be 2 styles of Trucks and driving styles to do one event so I guess there will always be a comprimise somewhere on track design.
