hi everyone...
a couple of q's for all you suzi nuts.... i have just purchased an '84 hardtop sooz basket case... 300 bucks worth and 98% there.. i need two engine mounts for the 1 litre motor ( left and right).. 65 bucks new is ridiculous...
it has a 1 litre motor (i think from a later model lwb ute) with what is supposed to be a 5 spd bolted on to it, did this setup appear in stock form?
i have two tranfer cases... one original and one that came with the motor and box.. will they both be the same (ratio wise) and how can i tell them apart if they differ?
cheers guys

They come standard with 4 speed if its a 1Ltr engine, a 1.0 standard transfer case has lower gearing than the 1.3 standard ones, duno how to tell the phsical diffeence though...

I don't think so......

There are a couple external differences (eg, the 1.0 units generally didn't have the 4wd sensor for the light in the dash, whereas the 1.3s did)
your best bet is to rotate the output flange by hand, and count how many times the input flange turns......then come back and tell us the number....(can't remember off the top of my head what the numbers are)
NOTE: the above details are just 'from memory', and should not be taken as gospel
Cheers,
Drewfus

the two gearboxes are definately different externally.... the so called five spd is longer by about 3 inches or so...(just by eye) can a 5spd bolt strait onto a 1 liter? the longer gearbox is the one bolted on....

if the engine is from a later model then it is posible that it is a 1.3 l this could meen that the gear box will be a 5 speed. thats about all i can help with

It might be possible it is a super carry 5 speed with the appropriate mods. There as never a sierra 1.0 litre with a 5 speed.
the 1.3/5 speed combo would not normally be confused with a 1.0 litre 4speed combo if you were look at both of them.
