New suzuki beast
New suzuki beast
Got this 81 suzuki a few days ago, it had the back chopped off so its like a ute, it had a tiny window in it so over the last few nights me and my dad have been doing a few things to it.
It has 2" body lift, extended front shackles (24cm lol, the front springs are bending the worng way), lifted rear springs (so its even) & 31" tyres.
As well as a snorkel we put on (don't you love it when your dads a plumber ), it has wide mud guards, made a bigger back window and atm were making a cover and tailgate for the back.
Here are some pics, any suggestions or queries?

This is acctually for my dad i have an 85 (bigger motor hehe) so this is good practise before we do things to mine, but im guna put some money into higher springs and better shocks other, everything else between them will be pretty much the same.
This one can be knocked around too lol, even though i have more dents in mine that this one. (damm trees...)

Yeah, I've noticed most trees are too stupid to get out of the way... there's a few rocks around with the same IQ too....I think I do have a straight bit of panel somewhere, if I find it again, I'll take a pic

Hey, that snorkel has gotta be a helluva lot better than those old cardboard pipes that would have been connected to the airbox before.
If you plan on using the snorkel, make sure your diff breathers are in good shape and higher than the distributor. Don't wanna screw those up.

My tires were rubbing in the front, so I trimmed the hood, and now they're fine...

diff breather let you diff breathe instead of blowing oil seals. make sure they are higher than the dizzy, because when your dizzy gets wet, your motor can stop running. if your motor stops running cos the water level is up to the dizzy, then you dont want the water going down into the diffs through the breathers. breathers are mini snorkels for the diffs, and while your at it, look at doing the gear box and transfer breathers too.

did you jut use mild steel to make those shackles? how thick steel did you use?
Also, have you tested it off road yet as it is. I got a stand sierra too which i was going to make my own extended shackles but i wanna know if it will give me much more wheel travel. I've never done these kind of mods before i'm only new at it all. I gather i'll need new extended shocks once done.

Like really thick mild steel, i will measure later but we just had those 4 off cuts there so we though y not just use them.
Yea its mild steel. And yea offroad its good so low sagging front end anymore approach angle isnt to great though lol. But you springs wount be shaped the wrong way so yours won't need to be any way near as long.
It gave us heaps more travel.
My dad is a good welder so he mig weleded them up with ease.

Yea original ones.
Since those photos we got another suzuki wreck with 2" lifted springs so now the blue one has 2" lifted springs either end. One the big trip we went on dad got hooked up once or twice and lifted springs are just a better (normally more expensive) option, but making them slighty longer than normal is a great idea, just not as long as ours lol
