Will it roll....

Alright, here's how it goes. i'm getting my zook in about 3weeks hopefully and will be modding it out with lifts and possibly 33's, if not 33's then 32's. I am wondering with the bigger tyres on will it still be capable of driving highways and around the streets without taking a few k's to pick up the necessary speed. Do they get really sluggish and unresponsive with the bigger wheels. 1.3ltr engine by the way.
Planning on a 1.6 conversion in the future, will this help driving a great deal?
Thanks from the newb.

hey mate mmy zook is on 33's and i drive it every day
being my only car
if you are to go for 33's make sure you get series 3 rockhopper for the transfer than you should have no problems
i can sit on 110 thou it is revving a little
shouldnt be tippy if you keen it low and wide

Depeneds on what style tyre you intend on running, 33 AT's are a big change from 33 Boggers. My street tyres are 31 mtr's and its alright for a zook (series 1 rock hoppers), but with my swampers that are only 32's its mroe of a handfull on the road. But if ya going to drive a fair bit on the road, maybe look at 2 sets of tyres, its not that bad, and means you can have a good set for offroad, and a nice set of on-road rubber that wont attract the boys in blue so much (the love swampers that stick a few inches past ya flares
)

hey man, have you even considered giving the topic a search?
reason i ask, is that my mates just bought a suzuki, and wants to lift it a bit, get more flex, and run bigger tyres. we had a search, and it came up with min 5 pages of the stuff which relate to the question your asking.
give the search a go, and see what you can find. you should have no probs with finding the info you need.
and in a nut shell, RB has it down pat.

As RB said, get a rockhopper.
Fitting 33s and not having a rockhopper will leave you with a three speed, maybe four downhill with a good wind at your back. You will hate it, reducing the gears with a series three rockhopper will get you back close to original gearing.
Don't do the 33s until you can put the rockhopper in.

I say roll it coz it will look funny. I had 33's and lifted wheels on the street regularly...... coz I'm a jerk that loves fark with old peoples heads.
In short it will be a pig on the road and you will roll unless you take care and drive responsibly

I hope you're budgeting for gearing with these 33s because I'd be suprised if you'll get out of your driveway without it.
Mere 30s made a very noticable difference on my car.

do you mean will it roll along the road with 33's .. no9t unless you do alot of lift or guard cutting..
will it roll over onto it's roof . sure if you drive like your in a sports car, it will fall on it's lid .. if you drive it like a zuk on a decent lift and bigger rubber it will be a great fun little ride..
I managed to crusie around on 32's to 35's for 6 years and never had one scare that I can recall as far as rolling while on the bitumen

Thanks for replying fellas.
I didn't have a clue it wouldn't drive without rockhoppers on the road. That'll be a must have then, I'll put them in when the tyres go on. What should I expect for the series 3 rockhoppes? $1000 or so or a lil more

$1250 plus labour isn't to bad I guess. It'll save a few clutches at least.

can save plenty if you know wat your doing
the only hard thing is you need a press to get bearings on and off
you can used timber and a lumpy thou i dont recomend this
also make sure you get all new seals bearings and thrust washers
all that comes in a rebuild kit thou can save money if you know wat the part numbers are.

i ran 60s diffs with the same ratios as standard zook with new 33mtrs.so i had the added wieght of the diffs and the tyres and it still drove allright on road. but dont even think about offraod unless its mud.when i got s3s it brought the gearing back to standard was ausome

I found mud one of the worst paces without the gears .. at least in rocks I couls easily slip the clucth (full sintered metal puck.. it would never overheat) but mud needed brute force ..

roll easily ?? what where you doing ..in the past I had had to swerve at 100 on the freeway .. granted it didnt feel as stable as a sports car .. but never even felt like tipping and that was running 33 swampers (measure almost as tall as my 35 claws did) ..

He was on bitumen and had stock wheels, no lift, shit springs and mates in the back. Although it was done on a 90 degree corner I think it may have been a meltdown of the nut behind the wheel
and the speedo must have been out because he swears he was only doing 40 (just like every time he loses a vehicle) but Zook travelled a fair way without using wheels (or perhaps it was a strong wind on a freak patch of ice). The rollcage more than paid for itself. Hopefully a lesson learned.
I agree with you Love_mud bigger tyres do not assist a vehicle to rollover, if anything they add weight and width down low. I'm sure that it could roll but not without a lot of "encouragement"
