GU Front Wheel Brg. Tool

Hi Rick,
Have just been through this process myself. The Nissan tool is part No. #KV40105400 which is made by SPX Tools. These are either available through Nissan or alterativly through Repco ( as an SPX agent ). I priced one on Wednesday and they are worth $215.00.

As I can by a full set of Bearings and Seals for this money I decided against the purchase. Instead I made one out of a length of 25 X 10 Flat Steel and 2 5/16" X 31/2" bolts. I simply removed the Bearing Nut and marked the 2 adjusting holes onto the steel, then drilled holes to allow the 5/16" bolts to pass through. I used a Lathe to skim the thread on the bolts to allow them to pass through the holes in the Nut and parted the ends off so that the bolts only sit flush into the nut. It's then a matter of welding the bolts into the flat steel using the nut to keep the bolts from distorting.

Adjusting the Wheel Bearing Tension is now so much simpler with the "Spanner" allowing a much more positive feel to the adjustment ( as opposed to using 2 pin punches like the first time I re-packed the wheel bearings ).

Good luck
Craig

Thank's Craig.
thought a genuine tool might be a few $$

Talked to the blokes at the local garage where they service the Telstra GU's. They just use pin punches as well.

cheers.

Rick.
