Just wondering ,
What Diffs are run in the ZJ - WJ Grands .
and are they the same as XJ sports-ltd ,
I noticed another thread stating XJ had D35 in the rear . FRONT ?
Also do the rear seats in the grand's fold down like the old style station wagons ?
IF i was looking at a grand to buy is there any common probs they have ?
Thanks in advance guys
Larry.

larry,
from the factory...
ZJ runs D30 front, D35 rear, some D35c, 5 link F&R
WJ has D30 front & D44a rear, 5 link front, A-frame rear.
both rear seat folds, 40/60 split.
XJ has D30 front & d35c rear, some came with Chrysler 8.25 rear, but very rare, some XJ also came with D30HP front not easy to find either.. 5 link front, leafs rear.
you will find most chrysler jeep has same front end 5 link setup, but different steering setups.

I thought most XJ's came with the D30HP here with only the 2001 models having the D30. My 2000 XJ has the D30HP.
Cheers

high pinion / low pinion.
the pinion is the bit that connects the cogs in the pumpkin to the driveshaft itself. high pinion means it is located high up on the pumkin (better clearance, driveline angle) and HP diffs are also reverse cut/rotation (the way the gears are cut) which is said to be stronger.
have a look under an XJ for eg and you'll instantly see what is going on.

Thanks bIllsta , guys -
good to know they don,t have a c-clip rear ,
Ive been checking these out for a while may have found a reasnable ZJ
Has few k,s on it though ,
What is the main diff between ZJ -WJ , All my searching
I have found 96 ZJ,s and WJ,s both with 4.0 mtrs ?
I also seen wj v8,s Is the model run from a certian date or is the difrence supose to be engine size ?
By what you say Billsta , sounds like wj being D44 R , would only be v8 .
