Vitara - Control arm replacement? (longer ones)

Hey guys

A mate is researching 3" spring lift on a vit, easily available in the US, but costs about $1700au wholesale to purchase... the coils make up only a minute amount of this price however as the kit includes new arms.

So the question arises - what other vehicles will provide the perfect donors?

Final vehicle is 3" lift and 32's, if he cant get cheaper arms then its gonna be a 3" BL (yuck!).

Any ideas?

Have you checked if you could fit the GV front arms to the Vit. We were going to try it on a mates SWB vit, but havn't had a chance yet.

If you don't care about pirated copies from Turkey these guys sell everything individually but if you look at the control arms you will notice they have altered the spring mount and I've heard there are some problems with the nylon(?) materials longevity. You could always fab something up in steel to drop in.

i have been looking for some GV front arms for about 10 months now. i cant seem to find any that i can try or buy from wreckers.

if you are able to do this, can you please post up the results, and also how the length of the axle shaft holds up. (reason being increased front track)

i would love to get wider arms on the front, which will solve the camber gremlins assosiated with IFS lifts.

thanks
Steve

i just had a quick look at the turkey lift, hehe, and spare parts, meaning individual pieces, have half descent prices. front control arms are about $85 AUD each, not including freight and what else. BUT.... if GV arms work, even better.

Too followup on this, I just got a '89 SWB vit and the GV arms are a little shorter then the vits.
