Ok have done some serching.
I have a manual 3.0ltr lwb NJ '94 GXL. After searching I find that it could have either a 4.625 or 4.875 diffs fitted. How do I tell which?

Tyres.
Currently I have the standard size tyres, 235/75x15 BFG ATs, and have been happy with them. But now I want bigger. Im thinking either 30x9.5 or 31x10.5s Copper st
Ill need wider rims. 7x15s . Will they fit without fitting flairs and still be legally under the guards?
And lastly, will the larger tyres suck to much power on the highway from my old 3ltr, that Ill become a slow moving speed hazard?(like my Suzuki)

Thanks in advance.

With the 3.0 V6, long wheelbase have the taller gearing, shorties have the shorter gearing.

I went to the 31x10.5, but they fit standard GLS rims and I have the flares to cover them. 30x9.5 may not be rated for 6 inch rims - how wide are yours?

If you need new rims anyway I'd say go the extra for the 31s - every little extra bit of clearance helps.

Cheers,

Scott

NH lwb GLS has 4.88's but all other lwb have 4.625's.
NJ lwb GLX = 4.625.
There is a data plate in the engine bay that has the diff ratio.

 thanks Bitsamissin, just found it. Does the NJ GLS have the 4.625 diff?
265/70 x15 are about the same as 31x10.5 ar'nt they? So if the GLS and GLX have the same diff, power wise it shouldnt be to much of a differance , eh?
Thanks also NJ.

31x10.5 are essentially 265/75-15. There's about 3% difference in height, I think you'd be struggling to notice the difference on the highway.

Yep,

NH lwb GLS = 4.88
NH lwb GLX = 4.625

NJ lwb GLS = 4.625
NJ lwb GLX = 4.625

I honestly don't think you will notice much at all going up to 31"s even with a 4.625 diff.
