Steering shake under braking

It seems that steering shake or shimmy is common to nissans from what I have read but does any one experience it under light to moderate brake pressure? Brakes feel firm and do not pulsate but shimmy is felt at steering wheel only. When brake pressure is increased it goes away. Front wheels shake noticably under the above conditions but ride is fine otherwise. By the way, 83 MQ is the vehicle. Anyone else experience this? What are the remedies?

check your discs aren't warped, this could be the cause

Thanks for reply, usually warped discs result in pulse in brake pedal don't they? My brake feel is good. Well good for a 20+ year old truck. I'll be doing brakes shortly including discs so that should eliminate that hopefully. Didn't know if steering linkages could be problem although mine are smooth & tight. That sentence sounds fairly rude actually.

braking wobble

Are your tyres getting fairly worn down and uneven? My cousins troopy did it when his tyres were getting real low, new tyres and the problem went away and mine are just starting to do it as my tyres are up for replacement
