Firstly, I'd like to say hello to everyone.
I am just a newbie in 4x4. Bought a 97 Pajero NL GLX last week.
But now, the door-ajar light stays on all the time. Have checked all the doors and switches. Fine.
But can't locate the switch or sensor for the tailgate.
Can anyone please tell me where it is. Even better if you can advise what's wrong with the car.

Many thanks.

Cheers. Jmoe

The rear barn door light switch is actually inside the door and part of the opening mechanism, it is a PITA to get at.
Try opening one door at a time and pressing in the light switch plunger (located on the sills) you will soon see if it's a stuck switch.
I had the same problem a while ago, landed on a rock which bent up the drivers side sill slightly creasing the door. As soon as I did it the door ajar light came on and I knew what had happened. I had to trim/grind away some of the plastic moulding around the sill/door so it would close properly and put on a adhesive pad where it contacts the door switch so the interior light would stay off. Gotta get those rock sliders.................

 Thanks so much for your suggestion. I finally found that the problem was in the "Steal stopper" security system. It was playing up, I had to disable it.

cheers.
