Hey guys i was just wondering if anyone in here has fitted a turbo to their TD42 via a bent piece of steel U tube off the bottom of the existing exhaust manifold. As i have a whole turbo setup less the manifold i have been told that this is a posible solution, better than parting with $700 for a new manifold! Just wondering if anyone has had any problem with this setup, it woulds be a much more affordable option for me at the moment.
Cheers
Tiny

IMHO if your going to do it, I'd say do it right once..
yea i know but the funds wont really allow it right now and i wanna get this turbo on lol!! Ive spoken to a turbo guy about it and he says it is done, i just would like to get some feedback on someone that had done it that way on a GQ. PS i really have to learn these abbreviations soon!!!

yea but they will soon, dont rush things.. Some people round here try and build everything on the cheap which sometimes comes back and bites them on the freckle.
Somethings you can do on the cheap, some you cant. IMHO wait a month or so, you will be happier it all worked out easier in the end...
Remember you have to get a manifold to match your snail too... just another hurdle.. :(

still no reason why you cant adapt the standard manifold to suit then weld on a suitable minifold to the turbo......after all it is a non standard accesory, and there is no reason to pay someone to modify on for you and charge you $600 for it, doesn't acheive anything but predetermined turbo positioning
If the above post did not offend you in any way please PM me so I can try harder!!
IMHO you should have bought a complete kit.
Well..
just go to an exhaust shop and get them to weld a flange onto the turbo to your existing header for a few dollars...
and then you'll have to dick around with oil and water feeds and drains.
Once done you'll be right..
JMHO too much dickin around...
