i have a H diesel in my 45 series and i was wanting to put the air intake into the glove box instead of getting a snorkel, if i was to use a pod filter would that suck enough air for a diesel??

thanks

I'd palm off the original air cleaner and stick a Donaldson canister on the guard, that's what I'm doing to my HJ 45 because it's only got a small airbox on top of the motor. ;)

Go the Donaldson route i did. Mine is in the enginge bay till i get around to installing 2nd battery. Cost about $120 with filters and snorkle head from Truck Bits in Dandenong.

Umm no actually. No digi camera . I could sort of describe the setup if ya think it might help.
Nothing special about it Just buy the clamp that is supposed to go with the canister and bolt it whever, mud guard, engine bay, even the roof.
Attach flexy hose and away you go.
The guys at Truck bits even went to the trouble of making sure it was suitable for my size engine (smaller than yours i think)

thought that was the sort you were talking bout, i like em, but just got one question, would that being just above the guard be as effective as the ones that run up to the top of the window, (on 75's and stuff). i was thinking in the event of entering mud, water holes that it would splash up into it, but hey if you guys dont find that to be a problem then i may just have to go with one of them,

cheers and thanks

Not as good (on the mud guard) as up near the roof line, but still better than under the bonnet. Cooler/ cleaner air and you can see if your about to drown it.

Pod filters have a much smaller surface area than a "real" filter, and so the air goes through at a much faster velocity for a given engine size, therefore the really small particles (1 micron and lower) which are collected by diffusion don't have time to diffuse out. So if you put a pod filter on a 4x4 you will have more small dust particles in the engine, which will result in faster engine wear.

The donaldson would be a much better option.

he's not going because he knows his diesel doesn't have enough horsies to spin those claws... so he just wheels the extreme macca's carpark

hmm thata very informative considering i only run a pod filter ontop of my snorkel hmmm might have to look into andding another filter in there somewhere
