zf kickdown on carb rangie ?

How can i fit the kickdown cable on a carbed rangie? Will be using stock twin carbs for now or maybe 4brl holley.

Get onto Simo63 on this site. His comp rangie had a ZF and manual kickdown on a holley. 350 I think...

Yep I did do this to my 2 door when I converted it to ZF. I was told by the helpful guys sat British Off Road to ensure the kickdown cable is set up correctly otherwise i will risk destroying the gearbox. What carby are you using? If you are using the std CD Strommies then I have a kickdown cable setup from a 727 Chrysler torqueflyte that might help. The conversion I did might be a little different as I was running a 350 Holley running backwards (eg float chamber facing the firewall) and had simply run the kickdown cable to the passenger side of the carby where I attached it to the throttle arm (whatever that is called). A simple "L" shaped bracked from the back of the intake manifold will secure the cable to the manifold (make the L shaped bracket so that the cable freeplay is right).
The trick was just to ensure the ratio was correct ... by that I mean that the cable was not unler load at idle but when the throttle was applied it pulled the cable all the way (past the "kick-down" trigger point). Obviously you do this with the engine off but it's just a matter of ensuring the cable is just slack when idling (throttle closed) and then you have to set it up so the cable is fully extended at the same time the throttle is fully open.
Sorry I can't be of more assistance as it's just a case of setting each one up seperately I have found. To start with I discovered that some holleys have different throttle arms on them.

Thanks Simo, i had heard that if it wsnt setup right i could kill it, will keep the strommies for now but still tossing up if to go efi( with a megasquirt) or to use the 450 holley with sprintgas new gen mixer that i have. Twin sill tanks will complicate the plumbing side if i go efi unless i fit a surge tank and use the original pump as a lift pump and then i have a commo efi pump for high pressure.

Sounds like lots of fun. If you are staying with the factory strommies and manifold setup at the moment then you might want to buy the factory linkage setup that I have from the 727 auto setup. Basically this is an extension to the factory linkage on the rear of the manifold (passenger side) from where the factory fitted 727 kickdown cable hooked up so it should be an easy mod to fit the ZF one.

I have a t/flite in now so that should be easy, been thinking i might go straight lpg till i get the fuel side sorted - fit the efi manifold with mixer and hook the rest up when i can.

No worries .. .it's all clear now. You will certainly notice a big difference in power with the ZF as the 727 just kills the poor little 3.5 ... I'm assuming you have the std motor (as you are using the std carbs).

Basically stock 3.5 thats had a full top end rebuild, it still pulls hard with the t/flite and 235/85/16's but should go better with the zf and since the lt230 is 1.003/1 high range, it will have a true 22% OD. T/flite will go into my ute when i find another lt230 for cheap $$.

Loanrangie, I'm about to embark on the same thing as you, my ZF conversion. I was forced to do it a bit earlier than I would have liked mainly because the LT95 4 speed has given up the ghost (transfer case problem). Probably easy enough fix and not too expensiove but a good excuse to fit the ZF (was going to do that anyway
).
I wil be interesting how well the rangie goes. I have a 94 Disco 1.2:1 high range LT230, a bit lower than the LT95's 1:1 high range that th transfer has.
