Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I started a topic similar to this that was about converting an AC to an air pump for an onboard air system, but now for the techy part

where abouts is the best (read: cheapest) place to get the fittings needed, air hose, pressure sensors to turn the system on & off, pressure safety valve?

I will need some type of oiling system as I will be running the toyota AC unit that doesn't have a sump to oil itself, so what sort of oiler & oil / seperator should I use?

also, what types of tanks do you guys use? I have read on pirate4x4 that they use brake air tanks.. they price them about 30$ US over there, what do they roughly cost over here?

To easy,
I have done mine out with a standard patrol a.c pump,got a uper cylinder lube kit fitted it up with high pres hoses and got an air tank off a mitsi truck with twin drain taps.i put a non return valve in the line and a releif valve on the tank set at 160 psi.i am going to put a air regulator to work the air lockers,
runs all my air tools e.g rattle guns di grinders nailgun. pumps up a 31" tyer from dead flat to 35 psi in about 45 to 60 seconds, love it to death

funny that i got it for a carton of xxxx gold off a mate,i think you can get them cheap at a truck wrecker

yeah, robbie, try the truck wreckers in south gippsland hwy, in dandy, around $50 for a good tank, plus you can run a set of horns off the tank, also about $50 for a good second hand set, very loud, i got a set on my truck, good for cyclists

From a truck wrecker i bought a 10 litre Tank for $25.
I have a endless air compressor which is an excelent setup with the tank. Just expect to need some very high temp hose at the compressor outlet as it gets very hot. I burst some high temp hose so ended up getting some teflon lined braided hydraulic hose, which is expensive at about $80 for 1.5metres with fittings, but will tolerate the high temps.
Fittings should be available at bearings shops etc. that deal with industrial suppies for trade people.

The best hose I found to use straight out of the A/C compressor was the standard A/C hose, with the longest aluminium fitting you can find. I was always blowing the hose just at the A/C fitting due to heat. I have used an A/C hose for about the last 2 years with no more blow outs. Any decent hose fitting shop, ENZED, PIRTEK, should have all the fittings you need.
