Ok lads, what are people using, have used and are/were, you happy with it. Also how much the kit costed and the preformance you are getting. I am looking at getting a kit VERY soon

so I would like to see other people's experances are. At the moment I'm leaning towards the DTS kit with the smaller exhaust housing so it spools up quicker.
All info would be greatly apprecated. Cheers, Kane.

I used a factory kit and 3" dump pipe, 3" mandrel bent system and running 12psi. I'm very happy with it. Turbo, manifold, air cleaner, etc. was $1000 from Matt Bolger, exhaust was $750 from Beaudesrt Custom Exhaut, the carton of rum was $55 from Jimboomba Tavern

and the rest was my labour.
I bought another complete kit for a mate from Nick (Gold Coast 4X4 Wrecking) for $1500.

Depends how much power you want as well....
if you go the DTS or factory kit and high flow the turbo i.e. larger exhaust wheel and modified housing u should be able to achieve over 115kw @ the rear wheels....
i reckon the factory stuff is pretty good so if your wanting to save some money go factory otherwise go the DTS.
Also with your exhaust just get 3" pipe no mufflers make sures it has flanges in it and double flex as well

I have a Denco on my TD42. Seems to work nicely. It was fitted by the previous owner but I have since had it off. My only problem with that unit is the air filter which has poor efficiency piping running to it. I am in the process of replacing the airbox with one from a TB45 GU.

I'm currently doing the research on a turbo kit for a gq TD42.
TJM in Brisbane will supply a Safari turbo kit for $3520. This includes a full 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust with flex joint. Safari run a Garrett T3 turbo.
Motorcare 4WD Brisbane will supply a DTS (Denco) turbo kit for $3454. This kit only uses 3 inch pipe from the turbo to existing exhaust system. Full 3 inch system is extra "on request". DTS use a Mitsubishi TD05H turbo.
CAPA kit is $3265 supply only. Existing exhaust and TD05H turbo.
AXT kit is close to CAPA figure. Exhaust extra.
Note. These prices are starting prices only.......before the haggling begins.
A 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust system for a gq is about $600-$700.
I intend to fit a kit myself. Set the boost at a conservative 10 psi, and tweak the fuel to stay under 700 degrees C.........on a well maintained 260,000 K engine.

just wondered what mods you have done to the injectors, and did you feel any difference before and after the electric fuel pump was fitted?

Richard.
Are you talking about the standard air pipe from guard to airbox? Im trying to figure out where this poor efficent pipe is??
The Denco Kit comes with a different airbox which moves the air filter to rear of enginebay and east/west instead and uses the standard pipe from guard to airbox..

turboglide.
GT25 garrett, 2.5" full exhaust (press bends), $3K @ my door. high mount, good quality piping etc. easy to install. If you dont have dual battery they supply a big donaldson aircleaner that really aids the breathing, if dual batt they use a modified precleaner housing with a K&N filter. Easy to fit top mount or water to air IC with this kit. gt25 is a better match on the td than most, modded td05 that MTQ uses is a bit small = early boost but limited for later increases in power.
gt25 = 1psi @ 1100 rpm. factory setting sees 9.5psi limit @ ~3000 rpm without any fuel adjustments.
If you go denco ask which turbo you're getting, they substitute schwitzer and t3 depending on availability.
REPLACE YOUR EXHAUST MANIFOLD STUDS. broken studs halfway through the job is a PITA.
Cheers

I have a GQ TD42 with 320K on the clock. Would an engine rebuilt be in order before considering whacking in a turbo?
Any idea on how much an engine rebuild would cost in Perth?

before a rebuild (could cost from $4k to $6k) check your compression and injectors and pump. If those are good, which they should be in a diesel with only that many kms just wack it on, but dont over boost it to stress it.
I put a turbo on mine with 270,000 and the car runs better than it ever did before the turbo. Now i've done 330,000 and still running perfect. You'll find the motor actually likes the turbo as you end up revving it less to get where you want.

all depends on the history of the engine as to how many klms is too many... but how do you know unless you owned it from new.
mine went on at 280k klms give or take 10k klms.. now upto 320k klms as well, going fine.
Yours may last another 300k klms, it may last 3 klms.
