Starting woes

Hi Guys

I need a little help

Last week my car started playing up by failing to start every so often. It sounded like a dying battery, only slowly cranking the motor.

I replaced the battery with a brand new optima yellow top  The dude at battery world who installed the battery checked charge from the alternator and all was good (13.something volts).

But now the original problem is back not starting all the time and at times a weak crank. Turn the key off and on a couple of times and all comes good :?

Is this a starter motor problem or is the battery farked??

Thanks in advanced
HR

Check the condition of all your major wiring going to both the positive and negative terminals and the chassis earths. See if any of the cables are heating up when you try to start it.

Good chance one of the + brushes in the starter has worn down & is not making contact with the commutater, this causes starter to run at half power when it's not touching & full power when it does. This is why we give the starter a (very) slight tap with a hammer when they dont go just to move the brushes slightly & retest if it goes that's the problem. Make sure if it's faulty to get it fully reconditioned or you'll get stuck somewhere out woop woop for sure. (Murphies Law No:1)
Cheers.
