Hiclones

Post by Kevin »

Has anyone tried Hiclones in a Feroza. I have a '97 SXII with a set of Genie extractors and a Unifilter fitted. Saw Hiclones advertised in 4x4 Australia and wondered whether they worked. :?:

James, what were the results? Did he get it dynoed before and after- or did the fuel economy improve???

Hi, i never got the car dyno'd, but there was a noticeable difference in power, was able to hold gears longer on large hills and rev's more freely, i didnt find any change in fuel economy though, i guess you cant have everything, hope this helps, Cheers,

P.S. Car is still for sale, not been sold yet due to me being lasy and not yet advertising, email me on shane_canellis@bigpond.com if anyone is interested Cheers

do a search here for other opinions

seems from the info in this board that if you run two hiclones upside down in your exhaust and drive backwards they actually start to put fuel back into the tank :!:

others say they're a waste of money.. a gimmick ;)

HICLONES !!!!!........NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Don't do it - not worth 1 cent. Not sure what Shane C is smoking up there in Northern NSW but I had the same set of Hiclones in my Feroza for around 1 month & couldn't pull them out quick enough :D
I must have tried every combination of position & number ( 1 & 2 Hiclones ) & it never made any difference & in fact - actually got worse in most cases - both power & fuel economy wise. When you really think about - how is sticking anything in the Air Intake that actually causes a restriction going to anyway increase in anything

If you are not going to fit a Snorkel & want to improve power then get rid of 90% of you air intake & fit a K&N or Ram Pod. Added benefit is that it will "sound" heaps faster & that is what really counts :D

Please......save your money.......don't go near Hiclones !!

or better still... do what i did and get yourself a length of 50mm drain pipe, a heat gun and a phillips head screwdriver.
remove EVERY resonator from the intake system... and run the pipe directly from the throttle opening, to the air box.
then... remove the kidney shaped box, and the intake pipe from the other side of the air box.... if you want more noise.. just remove the lid also.

Those srock filters are more than enough for the 1.6 engine. I cant see you getting any power gains from going POD... only spending more money.
