how have people over come valve problems on rims, like getting them ripped out from mud driving?
is there any form of shortened valve available, or is the only way to weld on some metel to protect the valve.
thanks

weld a small section of angle on the out side edge of the valve to protect it

Another way is if you have a little bit of offset in the rim moove the valve further inward................and weld some angle on there for good measure.

yeah good one.
thats about all we have up here, no rocks to play on here. no hills either.
its only dirt roads, and when it rains, mud.
Darwin Sux a bit, but the freedom you have is awesome. 15/20 min drive gets you out of town and in the middle of nowhere!
so a bit of angle is the trick. hmmm, will look into it. what about repositioning the valves, i know i can drill another hole inwards, but how to you seal up the old one? just weld it up? what about balancing?
thanks

Yeah. Just weld up the hole and grind it back a bit to clean it up. The wheel will still balance O.K.

Bobcats and things like that have a small length of tube spot welded around the valve stem.

There is short valves that you can use. we have been using them on a comp truck for three years without any dramas. Just ask your local tyre dealer. I think they may even be used on ATV's.
Cheers.

When i make up my wheels i put the valve between the spokes ( Pecostar type wheel) and never had a problem.

Some performance alloy mags come out with short steal chrome valve that have a nut that secures it to the rim .Seal up good and you would distroy the rim before riping them out. Your local tyre shop should be able to help you .
