Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I've a got a GQ with an RB30 engine. Currently running 31s tyres. Want to change for something a bit bigger. Would like to go for some 35s, but not sure if the motor is up to the job only being a 3 litre. Don't want to spend an arm and a leg on a a turbo or changing the diff ratios. Any ideas?

Best bet would be to find someone who is willing to let you borrow theres for an arvo.
As for mods. Your GQ probably already has 4.3diffs, so you could only change them slightly to 4.6's or aftermarket 4.88.

I have a swb GQ with the TD42 no turbo and I run 35's. It turns them ok but could do with abit more power. SO I dont think you would like them on all the time. But as a play tyre they should be alright.

I had an rb30 in mine and ran 33 10.5 bfg muds , not too bad but would not like to go taller.

I'd stick with 175's...

ive got a rb30 running 35's, on road its not bad, but off road it could do with a bit more down low, twin cases one day, but even with 31's it was lacking down low. ive also put fuel injection on mine which helps alot.

seriously i would just put 33's X 12.5 on there.. look good.. by the sounds they would be more than adequate.....

make sure you see ryano at fourby's marooka for a good set a rubber at a mud beers and mayhem price......mention us and he'll look after you..

I have just put a set of 315 x75 x16 M/Ts on my RB30 GQ Wagon. Went out for the weekend, Did 200kms bitumen 200kms offroad 200kms bitumen used 45 litres for the first 200, 63 litres for next 200, 50 litres for next 200. On the bitumen needed to keep throttle between 90 -100% and struggled to maintain a speed range of 80 -100kms. On the dirt what used to be 2nd - 3rd gear terrain very quickly turned into 1st gear country. Dont go 35s unless your happy to spend up.

i agree with embryo, have good friend with 32BFG and he reckon that's the he would go with RB30

my advice is borrow some tires first and go for a run round the block. other wise your gonna suffer

Thanks for the advice everyone. Seems a set of 33s are the go then. Probally easyer in the long run no gaurd choping required. Will see if i can borrow set first and try them out.
