Cheap/free steering damper

My Rangie tended to wander and tramline a bit, so I got thinking about a bigger/better steering damper.
I removed the old one, squashed it up and down to accuratly measure its damping ability.
Compared it to an old front shocker....front shock heaps stiffer.
Only problem was it was too long when fully compressed, as a quick fix/test I removed one bolt from the diff mounted bracket and rotated the bracket 180 degrees, now it fits and gives full lock to lock steering.
Road test was much better, tracks well now, and it was free!
I will make a new bracket soon......but it's quite safe for now.
Maybe you guys have been doing this for years, I just had to tell you as it is the cheapest good thing to happen to my Rangie ever!
