does anyone know if the 2001 GU 4.2 petrol, 5 speed, trans, prop shafts would fit into an MQ wagon without too many probs.

the lengths would more than likely be too long or short....
would be a one in a million chance the lengths would be close enough to fit......

I mean using the whole drivetrain from the GU, engine, box, transfercase, computer, the front and rear propshafts may have to be made longer or shorter, you think

Yeah I'd reckon the front and rear shafts would have to be shortened/lengthened....but this will be the least of your worries I reckon. You will have a heap of other probs to sort out. Good luck!

ok, i misunderstood, you could try measure yp the lengths of the 2 engine gear box combos, and see what thewy are like, then youd just have to mod the shafts, a few custom mounts, some wiring, mod the floor so the shifter come through, and hopefully they can come through the same place,

You would need all new radiator and all electrics, gearbox tunnel would almost definatly need cutting and wideing or re shaping.....
firewall to gearbox will be a problem for your gearshifters near the heaterbox inside the cab...... shafts wouldnt fit, and the GUs centre offset diff, MQ are drivers side offset....

just some of the problems off the top of my head.
if u decide to do it, good luck :!:

Ahh, very interesting indeed, a guy is selling the whole combo including the radiator, electrics and computer for $6000, only traveled 45k, sounds great, but too many mods i think.

cheers for you help
