welding/oxy cutting diff mounts

how is this to be done ... should i empty the oil out of it and pull it all to peices?
or will it be ok to do it in small sections and let cool down?

Just use a gronder and a cold cheisel.

i don't wanna know about grinder and chiseling ...
i wanna know about oxy cutting and welding or just welding with the oil in it
can i do it with the oil in it?

whether it be oxy cutting / welding or grinding and using a mig/tig......
U can weld or should i say, put heat into the diff, as long as u weld then let it cool down for a while then weld again.....
U WILL boil the oil eventually so be carefull, also u may warp the diff a touch if your flat out with the heat for a long period....
EVERYONE GETS SICK OF CUTTING AND A COLD CHISEL, I FOR ONE HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF IT

yeh ok cool
we took our time with it did small cuts with the oxy waited 5mins to cool between cuts ... got the shock mounts off let it sit for bout an hour (beers and lunch)... tacked on the new mounts did the corners on either side let them cooled for 15 or so(2 beers and a yarn) started to weld ... missed where was meant to be welding and touched a brake like

now hole in brake line ... left that one .. finished the other side
whos relocated their shock mounts up to the diff .. did u's extend the top mounts to bring it back to standard? im lookin at mounting the top of the shock to bottom of the tray and having longer shocks made up for the rear

I would gut the diff housing steam clean, cut all the brackets off, grind up the housing, make all required brackets, tack in place, check to ensure all is OK, remove from vehicle, and bench weld in a comfortable position. I preheat (warm up with oxy) the housing prior to welding to aid in minimising distortion of the housing and when welding keep going untill its all done. I also stratigically alternate where im welding to avoid overheating one area and to minimise distortion. I then let it cool down in still air to slow down the cooling process. You should avoid cooling it down rapidly or quenching with water.

i cut my old crossmember off and made a new one thats about 200mm higher than the old one was...... so i can run nice long shocks
