Hi Guys,

chasing new CV joints for the 84 SWB MK Patrol. Anyone recommend a place to buy? a brand? and what I'll be paying approximately? are these the same as the MQ cv's?

I'm getting a loud clicking noise from the P/S hub and very on/off power to the front wheels, origionally starting when turning and powering on, now its occuring in straight line driving. Thats gotta be cv's right?

Cvs is loud clicking from front limiting steering and and drive to front wheels while the hubs are locked in....

mate MQ Cvs are probably really not the best thing to buy new....
probably only nissan, no one makes after market ones for MQ / MK ( the same ).... that are any good, they are weak

u can buy new ones at Nissan, or second hand ones and get them hardened?

id just be getting one at wreckers....

You can get aftermarket CV's for about $150 each new. But i dont believe they are as strong as the originals. If you can, get the originals from a wreckers, they will have BIRFIELD JOINT stamped on them. If you see blue spots around the bell don't buy them as they are just about shagged.

I can get new cv's for $75 each, sounds very cheap, so everyone knows these are weak? has anyone tried them? I'm not to sure about buying second hand cv's, most would have to be near on buggered after 20yrs. I'll call Nissan today to get a price on factory ones. Ruff is also meant to sell heat treated cv's, anyone tried these? prices?

cheers

factory CV's from Nissan are over $1000 each... unreal

second hand cv's are $125ea at wreckers

Ebay has cv's for $75ea

Local Brake and clutch fella has aftermarket ones for $125ea or maybe able to rebuild current ones (fella recommends this over aftermarket parts) depending on damage...sounding like the best option

Not sure what to do... what are these blue spots around the bell telling you? I've gotta find out if both my cv's are damaged or if its just the one...blue spots hu? is this like a heat damage?

They are the bell assembly joints only......

The ones quoted from wreckers are full shaft and CV together almost garunteed ;)
