What Ks are you guys with dual fuel 4.5 GUs are getting out of your 90 litre gas tanks ?
Mine is eating gas like there is no tommorrow!
I change my plugs , my motor is low ks, i have extractors and a good system.
Surely 300 ks out of a tank cannot be normal!

Any help would be great

Cheers Grant.

Don't know about the 4.5 GU's but I used to struggle to get that out of a 4.2 GQ patrol auto I had a few years ago. In fact it consistently used just on 33 litres of LPG per 100 kms ... I tried everything from tune ups to servicing the converter and restricting the gas supply ... it didn't change so we sold the POS and went Turbo Diesel.

Cheers

 Yeah foad but you got no power (lots of revs though those little L28's) so that's okay .. I don't mind using fuel or gas as long as you get power in return .... the problem with our GQ auto was that it had no power AND used heaps of LPG or fuel ... shitbox!!

Oh you'd be surprised.

Last couple of weeks I've been buying another MQ for a mate - so have test driven a stack of other L28's.

Mine haulllsssss ass in comparison, so much torque it's not funny.

Tuned for straight gas + extractors must have made a difference.

Oh you've got it on straight gas only .. :) .. well tuning for straight gas will make a heap of difference .... you can get better economy and power from straight gas due to the higher octane of LPG I understand.

I've driven a few L28 MQ's and they were all pretty uninspiring (although like I said they don't mind revving) and a mate pulled his out and put a 250 Falcon crossflow in .... used more fuel than the little L28 but the extra power was certainly worth the extra fuel ... transformed the car :D

Gueey,

my GQ manual duel fuel gets 350 to 380 k's around town travelling to work and back...works out at 23 to 24 litres per 100 km's. About 12 mpg in the old school. 90 litre tank fitted.

I run an Impco 300a fitted by a reputable dealer about 5 years ago.
GU's are about 200 kg heavier than a GQ.

I think your fuel usage is abit excessive.

Yeah I agree, but it's enough for me for the moment :)

18 months or so I'll drop a chevy on straight gas in.

I have a LPGAS1 system which uses an Impco 425 Mixer , which is bigger than a 300A Mixer, but i dont belive that the mixer size would make that much differance of 80-90 klm in range.

I have a 305 chev with a 300a impco on it running on straight gas. I get about 75 to 80 litres for about 300 KMs. Not too bad at just over 25 lts 100kms.

Cant complain heaps of power. P platers in there little buzz boxes get pissed off when they are beat off the line by a 4x4. Sounds great too. Just have to get some thermo fans in it for extra cooling
