Lowered spring mounts for Hilux rear end
Okies, i just want to know if anyone here has lowered the front spring mount for the REAR springs 2" or more, and if they did, how was it done and do you have any pics?
Im going to run some IFS leaves that are going to be fairly flat, and i need to end up with around 4" of lift over standard in the rear to help match the front. Im not changing anything on the front because its working really well at the moment.
So my idea currently consists of:
2" dropped front hanger,
200mm extended shackle,
lifting blocks (1 or 2" pending on how many leaves are taken out)
Trac bar if lifting blocks are fitted,
And of course, / \ing the shocks.
What do you guys reckon?
(P.S. Dont anyone f*cking dare start about the angle of the shocks. This thread is mostly about lowering the front mounting, got that? )

3. Im after some pictures of mounts.
4. I need to match the rear end height with the front. This will mean LOWERING the mountings of the spring. Not moving them backwards or forwards. I could make a 300mm shackle like Toyo Truck has, but that to me seems a little cop magnety. Plus the uni angles would be way worse than they already are at the moment.
Im not having a go at you by the way, just pointing out that whilst that thread is helpful to an extent, it doesn't answer my question completely.

btw lowing the mounts wont really affect the height that much, just the shackle angle. ur best bet to get 4" lift out of ifs is just 2" spring blocks and run a track bar

I think i see where your coming from when u say lowering. I think your talking about moving diagonally downwards on the chassis, yeh?
I mean actually hacking off the mount completely, And fitting a dropped 2" hanger, from snake racing for example, so that the pin would sit directly below where it did in its factory location.
Therefore any effect it has on the shackle angle will be very marginal.

to get 2" lift out of that u would have to lower the rear one 2" as well. and yes i understood the first time
i have 2" lift in the back with just stand ifs, if i put in a 2" lift block, i would have 4" lift. i believe that would be alot easier than making new mounts. just my opinion, mayb someone on here has done it and will be able to post some pics up for u

Im gonna be running a longer shackle, longer than what ive already got. 200mm to be precise. So that would give 2" of lift at the back eye? so roughly 1" at the diff. So if i lower the front shackle 2" then it will be a true 2" lift. Geddit? Then with the lift block it would be 4".
What ive got at the moment is a 2" spring and 2" longer than standard shackles. But this only gives a 3" lift because the front mount is still standard. Up front ive got a 2" spring and 2" extended shackle as well. But because ive got 2" dropped front hangers it makes it a true 4" lift because the whole spring has been lowered, not just the back by 2".
So, does installing a 200mm shackle on the angle that an ifs spring would put it at give 1" or 2" at the diff? If i leave the spring standard of course.

I was going to do this also gribble, but going to lengthen the shackle mount first as when I was running lift blocks I found it affects rear tail shaft angle real quick, so am thinking by just dropping the shackle end it will allow me to keep a decent angle on the uni, although I realise this will be at the expense of the springs, If you drop the front down I was thinking of cutting of old hangers, making new plates welded on chassis and have these running in line with lower chassis rail to prevent them becoming rock anchors, then make new holes and run new bolts instead of the Toyo bolts, have seen this done on a rocky running lux springs and it worked well.

Yeh, already thought of that. Will prolly get some box section and cut it up so its like a slider and re-enforcing in one.

So the 200mm shackle ends up being 4" lower than standard, giving you 2" at the axle? If thats so then its all good. I got my answer, thanx dude!

yes gives u 2" lift over the axle, ps i meant WITHOUT a lift block, so the 2" lift block would give u the 4" lift u woul;d need to run a track bar then aswell as it would produce axle wrap
