Cracked Chassis

Just got my truck (1996 3.1TD Jackaroo) back from the shop after they repaired a cracked chassis.
Put in to get the steering arm knuckles replaced, & they found it also had a cracked chassis under the steering box & where the front lower wishbone attaches to the chassis.
Anyone else had or heard of this problem?
Was told the worst thing to cause this was turning the wheels when stationary , as it torques up the chassis at this point from above & below due to the design.

Yep, mine did this (1996 3.1 TD). Had it welded and reinforced.

Never had another problem until I sold it a year later. I always thought it was due to lots of corrogated roads I travelled.

After I had it repared I couldn't believe how good the steering was. The flex in the chassis was making the steering really spongy!

Cheers,
Dave.
