Got a old suba diving tank through my old man....

want to use it as a compressed air reseviour for the lockers.....

easy enough....

prob is that it has a dirty big female guage fitting on the top... has anyone used these tanks?

if so, how would i go about getting a big ass reducer from something like 1inch to 1 inch and a half give or take down to std air line size....

Dont be a tight ass and buy a proper air tank save yourself a lot of trouble i have been there and tried that not worth it just buy a tank

ive got a 5 litre air tank here.... i used to run, and will run if i cant use this tank.

I scored this tank for free so just seeing if i can easily fit it up is all

you gonna use a normal compressor to fill it? Or are youi thinking of filling it at a servo before you go?

I use a suba diving tank.
I made my own reducer and then mated it to a CO2 bottle gauge where I attache the air line.

An ARB compressor will not melt filling one of these up. As the ARB is at max pressure at 125psi (or something like that). The scuba cylinder is only about 9lt or something similar. But if you could get it filled some where, now that would be nice. As they hold 1800lt of compressed air at 207bar (or 3000psi).

I did have access to an old on, but never took up the other. Kicking myself now though. But it was a old steel one that needed to be pressure tested. As for filling I can do that for free.

Is it worth taking to a place where they weld alloy, get them to weld on 2 or 3 fittings somewhere on the tank and block the top one off???

you can just get yourself a first stage regulator to fit the scuba tank. you would be able to pick one up cheep out of the trading post.

It should come with a hose, but they all have a few ports on them for different stuff(ie dive reg/guages).

I use this set up with a hose and a tyre connector crimped on the end(from enzed ).

If you want to use the full capacity of the tank you will need to get it re-tested every 12months(around $30 with a fill). most dive shops(refill) require you to have a dive ticket.

Any idea what the scuba tank weighs?

the pic of the Tank Buger posted, i actually have a couple of these i will be puttin into service one day, they are rated at 3000psi, so using them at 100psi will never be a problem. they arent that heavy either

Mine weighs 18kg full its an ally tank

my tank wieghs 9.8kgs TARE

if you are going to use a small compressor like arb then you should be able to get fittings from pirtek enzed etc if you are going to put sh!tloads of pressure in use a regulator. I run an old 9.0lt water fire extinguisher for a reservour (actually holds about 12lt 9lt is only the water content) running off an arb compressor works a treat

yeh mine will only be powered by a similar to ARB compressor in style, though it is more powerful.....
I intend for it only to hold 100 psi or similar as the pressure switch for the air lockers will turn it off.
