Stalling Zook

Hi all,
My 1.3 has begun to stall on a trailing throttle or when idling. Eventually restarts after a lot of winding over. Pulled the Weber apart and it's as clean as. When it restarts it goes with no clearing, coughing etc. Does it hot or cold. I am convinced it is electrical--maybe the coil or a module in the dizzy? Any ideas? I notice there are two units in the distributor (1987 NT). Any idea which one may be faulty?? Thanks.....

i had something similar happen... turns out the fusebox inside the car (drivers side footwell) had water dripped over and in it and had quite sufficiently melted a large area of fuses... it was cutting out only intermittently, cos one of the fuses had melted plastic all around it - so the forks of the fuse had melted into each other... but after a few bumps etc theyd come apart, then go back together on their own... WEIRD!

replaced fuse with glass type.

luckily all other melted areas were in the bottom area not being used!

honestly not sure on a webber..

but sierra carbys do this when the fuel cutoff solinoid is stuffed..

i guess a weber would have this..

Mine is also cutting out at idle, where do I find the cutout solinoid? I have the standard 1.3 with stock carby. (1988 WT) I was going to replace the fuel filter and get the carby rebuilt..... But mine starts straight away and just stalls at low revs like when your slowing down for traffic lights etc. I wish I could afford fuel injection.....

Look for the cylinder thing on the right side when looking at the carby. It should have two wires coming off it and about a 14mm nut joining it onto the carby.

cheers
