are cv's full floating in swivel housings?

Post by F'n_Rover »

I'm doing a bitsa cv to uni front axel conversion and need to know if cv's are full floating within swivel housings or is the cv posistion within the swivel housing set by the stub axel circlip? I'm thinking the circlip stops the cv hitting the ball housing when travelling straight ahead and the cv self centres when turning.

thanks

The toy CV is full full floating, some others aren't. CV's are supposed to be located by a circlip on one side and a brass bush on the other side they won't self center - they need to be correctly located to +/- a couple of mm. To fit the toy CV to the rover swivel you need a brass bush that is off the shelf from jacmac in melbourne, or you can machine your own.
