before you take off the tensioner and the belt, make sure the two
pulleys have their marks lined up, at the point closest to each
other.. dont move the timing pulleys, and when reassembled, the
timing will be still right

Just done this myself last night (needlessly replaced waterpump in my long runnign alternator saga.
manual says make sure they're line up - theres a mark on the steel bit at the bac of the timingcase cover and on the cam sprocket, and a tag near the crank pulley.
If you don't move anything, it should be fine if you make sure the belt is as tight going back on as off.
After you fit the cambeslt back on it's recommended that you turn the crank 720 degrees (thus cam 360 degrees to check that they still align.
If they don't you've got a problem and you'd better have another go at it.

My brand new waterpump just sh@t itself at the first deep watercrossing.
Pulley seperated from the waterpump shaft and lucky the fan didn't kill the radiator (at least that we can see).
Dammit. Very dissapointing day.
Have to take it back. I reckon they should give me a new radiator too......
