i have just check my boost on the turbo, and at 4000 rpm its only going to 1 - 1.5 psi i was hoping to get the boost higher and coming in at a lot lower rpms. does anybody know how to achive this i thught about a boost controller but this would only work if i was getting maxium boost to start of with. the turbo is from an aftermarket kit that i got from the wreckers. and i have tried disconneting the waste gate but it makes no difference. should i just ring up the wrecks and get my money back i had a 30 day warranty and its only been 20 days. thanks for any help chris.

We need much more info to give u any sort of answer on this one.
Type of vehicle and engine, brand and condition of turbo system would be a good start.

If it's got the standard type built in waste gate then check it hasn't seized in the open position. Also try to spin the turbo inlet impellor with your fingers to make sure it hasn't seized.

need engine & turbocharger specs... Hope it aint a schwitzer LB7 set-up. These were a primitive kit even when new, and surprisingly enough theres still some getting around. Boost is governed by the drivers foot, similar to a truck.
Basically check for any inlet leaks..would be the best bet, also check your boost gauge. If ya can get hold of another gauge,"T" piece of the existing line and check to see that both gauges read the same.

4-7 psi is a good recommendation

to get more boost the motor wants more fuel, there is an adjustment screw but you are best to pay a turbo and tuning place, they can get it up to ten psi easily. i ran 17psi but had a very healthy motor and did not expect much of a life out of it.

without the motor running, or it could be very very painful.

thats true, but often the fan looks like it isnt spinning and we become forgetful, really it is that simple for something to go wrong.
