toyota 2c turbo

Possibly a CT9, same as starlet turbo. I dont think i've ever seen a ct12 used in any single turbo motor?? Just on 1GGTE's. If it is a CT12, i never had a problem with these running 14.5psi (1 BAR) all day, everyday. If its a ct12A, max 14psi, exhaust wheels tend to delaminate and/or fall off (ceramic). If its a CT12B (1KZTE, 2JZGTE), 15psi.
CT9, CT12, CT12A, CT12B will be stamped on the inlet housing. Geez, it may even be a CT8!!!

the max boost you can achieve with a particular turbo depends a lot on the size engine and rpm (ie maximum mass airflow) you put the turbo on. It makes more sense to talk about the max horsepower available from a particular turbo, than to talk about the boost pressure.
most toyota turbos in factory installations are slightly undersized and tend to run at the top end of their efficient range even in standard applications. sure they will boost higher, but they will do it inefficiently, pumping a lot of extra heat into the motor, and choking the exhaust to do it. far more power is liberated, from less fuel and wilt much less heat stress by using a correctly sized turbo.
It's hard to say, without experimenting, what hp range your turbo is good for, as Toyota do not publish efficiency data/mapps for their turbos (probably because toyota turbos are embarrasingly poor performers!)
cheers

CT12
hey guys,
Its a ct12, manage to do 9 psi so far on my standard engine, awsome.
Dont wanna exceed 9 at the moment, scared my standard engine might give way. At the moment can't exceed 3500 rpm, insufficient fuel supply.
Got to add 2 more stock injectors and looking for more durable pistons. maybe thingking of changing my clutch disc too, its skipping. Hope that will do. Keep you guys posted.
