So iI have to unbolt the t-case from the tranny of my Patrol SD33T, it is a 5 speed and do the same thing on a 28RTD Patrol. Wich is the best way to do so? It is my first time that I do this. :?
PS: Both are not mounted in a vehicle.

old tyre under the gearbox mount to raise the t/case up a bit.. then unbolt and pull. use a rubber mallet to give the ends around it a bang to loosen things up a bit after unbolting.

Drain oil.
Remove Hi/Low linkage ( cotter pin style bolt and its soft material so be careful).
Remove top transfer cover.
At the back of the transfer directly behind the gearbox there is an alloy plate about 100mm in diameter, remove it.
Remove the locking setup ( split pin ) thats behind that plate ( this holds the main gear on the gearbox output shaft.
Remove Idler gear ( centre gear in the transfer [ of which there are 3 ])
Remove the bolts which hold the transfer to the box ( there are 2 or 3 actually inside of the transfer case while the rest are external )

:D

Where you'll phuck up.....

Forgetting to drain the oil !

Be extra careful with the cotter pin removal, the actual thread part is that soft it may as well be made of plastic !!!! Same goes for reinstall, dont OVERTIGHTEN.

Finding the internal bolts that connect the transfer to the gearbox, sneaky designers hid them well .

Removing and replacing the centre IDLER GEAR, there are shims/washers here so WATCH CAREFULLY where they come from. ( put em back in the same place ;) )

Pulling the bottom gear etc. out ............ dont go here

Forgetting to refill the oil  or ........
Over filling the transfer with oil ( common )
