Hi just want to know what motor is in the newer hilux it is a 2.7 litre petrol engine or something?

Also if you know what the engine is what are the specs and does anyone know how much you can get them for 2nd with computer?

Does the new engine still use the g52 gearbox.

The reason is I have a Bundy and want to know if the newer hilux engine will bolt straight up to my gearbox and engine mounts.?

From the Toyota site, the new engines are: 4.0L v6 petrol (1GR-FE) 175kW and 343Nm, and 3.0L intercooled turbo diesel (1KD-FTV) 120kW and 343Nm. Pretty sure most of the mechanicals are Prado spec.

The gearbox specs don't list their model number, but the ratios are the same as old Hilux. It would be very unlikely that the manual box is the weak g52- so it's almost certainly the R151 as used in the Prado.

In which case you could replace your g52 with the R151 that came in TD Bunderas, to make that part of the conversion bolt in. Engine mounts would probably have to be fabricated.

The cost of either of these engines would be very high (>$5k?)- prolly better value to buy new than s/h. The Prado has been running these parts for maybe 2 years- even so there would only be a handful if any at wreckers around Oz.

These engines will probably make great conversions to older lux's in about 10 years time.

If you are looking for simplest power up look at 7m- gte or 5m- gte apparently these used Hilux transmissions and even engine mounts! They make up to 160kW std, but the downside with these is they are an older engine prone to head problems.

I think the 2.7L lux motor would be next cheapest and be most simplest to install- should bolt up to your truck w/oout mods and being newer would give more reliability.

If economy is facctor look for 1KZ-TE (3L turbo deisel Surf motor) would require sourcing the R151 box that some Bundys came with.

Next cheapest would prolly be v6 commy motor with T700 auto would require adaptor from Pat's v6's to mate to t-case.

Probably best engine for power/ reliability would be 4.0L Lexus- require adaptor from CRS/Dellow (can mate to your g52 but recommend R151 box) wiring not such a big job anymore thanks to guy in Brisbane (Venom) doing looms for $900 or so.

The M-series head problems are well known amongst on-road performance types, the solution from memory is a genuine toyota headgasket and either increased torque on factory bolts or an ARP head stud kits, apparently with increased clamping the headgasket problems are completely eliminated.
