Will a tojo 12-HT motor (4Litre, DIT turbo etc etc) Motor bolt up to a 2H 4 speed g-box?
Whats the up's and downs of this motor?
Thanks guys

It should, with the same clutch housing bolt patterns, etc.
The one thing noticeable about the 12HT is how overly sensitive the engine is to the throttle pedal. Small bumps on the road makes the engine rev up.

Thats cool, thanks for the info Beanz2
. How much are the 12HT worth second hand these days? And would they be a better choice to say. bolting a turbo onto a 2H Motor?

:( I want a 12H-T

It's probably better than a turbo 2H, it has piston skirt cooling oil jets and it has a direct injection head.
I don't know how much the 12HT sells for down under, but they can be found in the Sahara 60 series I think.

a 12HT is about 8-8.5K for a rebuilt one or a low k import.

One of the guys here showed me what he found for less than $3000, but for his benefit I have to keep the location a secret

Looks like a side roll over to me. I'd be concerned about the condition of the motor if it was running while the car was on its side. Or if they started it right up after they got the car back on its wheels. Its possible to hydraulic the motor if oil got up past its rings. Bending conrods isn't good for a 12ht
Thats why its good to have a history on the motor. It may be a cheap 12ht, but it might cost him what he paid over again to fix it up.

Hi They have thesame block, but use a larger clutch...so what ever you put in there will have to be custom, or use the 2h flywheel....the 12ht IS the best yota diesel made.

What size clutch did the 4 speed 2h's have?
My 5 speed had the 11 inch clutch, which im sure is the same as the 12ht?

12ht had a 12 inch diameter clutch, same as the later versions were different diameters....(1hz=11, 1hdt=12)
thats cool, because u can get a 12 inch to fit, u just need to know the spline of te box your using....3b is different to all others.

why will the clutch have to be custom? the clutch on the 12HT may be a bigger diameter but as long as the input shaft spline is the same, the diameter matters not. the bellhousing bolt pattern is the same.

Yes, indeed the gearbox input shaft is the same between the 2H and the 12HT powered vehicles, so use the 12HT flywheel and clutch and you're good to go.
The situation is different from the 1HZ and the 1HDT.

are you saying the 1HZ has a different input shaft spline to the 1HD (F)T

Yes. The 1HDT takes a coarse spline and the 1HZ takes a fine spline.

hmm that's pretty annoying... I was planning to swap the H150F from my wrecked HZJ80 into my alive and kicking HDJ80... but I need a 12" fine spline clutch plate? (or to also swap the flywheel off the 1HZ?)
(is this the problem solved by the mysterious isuzu clutch plate?)

Yes, the Isuzu plate will solve that problem. Let me see if I can find the Isuzu part number in a little bit...
This is what I am doing temporarily with an H55f gearbox behind a 1HDT. The spline count is the same between the 1HZ version H55f and the H150f.

Brian, you want the clutch plate for a 1991-97 Isuzu NPR truck with a 4BD1 or 4BD2 3.9L Turbo diesel. Daikin Clutch number ISD134, Isuzu part number 8-94462-789-3. Be warned, they are quite spendy.

cool thanks. is that the number for the plate only or is it only sold as part of the whole clutch? I recently replaced a clutch in a Jackaroo (Isuzu trooper) and the clutch kit (daikin) was over twice the $ of the equivalent age/engine size toyota bits.
At the moment I am leaning towards leaving the H151 in the HDJ and just swapping the transfer over. The lower 1st/2nd would be nice with 35's but not absolutely necessary.

It's only the clutch plate. You can use the HDJ80 pressure plate. The disc alone cost me about US$200 = AU$260
Now verse me in Aussie car talk please:
clutch disc = the driven plate?
pressure plate = clutch?

it depends who you ask and where you're from. I tend to use "clutch" to talk about the whole assembly/kit, including release bearing, pressure plate and driven plate. driven plate = disc = clutch plate = gearbox (input) plate = splined plate, "driven plate" I think would be the most common term. pressure plate = cover (plate) = diaphragm plate, probably "pressure plate" used most. throwout bearing = release bearing = thrust bearing, spigot bearing = pilot bearing = crankshaft end bearing = input shaft support bearing. just make it up as you go, it's easier.

Sorry, for some reason i thought it was going where a 3b motor was....2h/12ht same spline
with the hdt, you can use a 1hz flywheel and then the 1hz clutch, or heavy duty ARB one or similar.....with the hdt flywheel, its 12 inch, the 151 box has thesame spline petrol or diesel....same clutch plate aswell (factory supplies different springs....spare parts only sell the diesel varient to the petrol brigade...heavier clutch)
zuzu plate here is 400ish...

hmm any details? I'll check it out. at the moment I'm leaning heavily towards the much easier transfer-only swap though...
