Hi pressure fuel pump For V6

Can anyone help please I need to Know What Fuel pump to use(Brand & Model) with my Vp commodore motor i'm fitting into my hilux.

An external one from a VL or VN crummydore.

Rang the Holden guys in town today & was told they were internal fuel tank pumps.
I will check it out with someone in Perth.

the vl turbo and the camira are both external

VN had both an internal and an external. the internal was low pressour and the external one was high pressour.
VL`s were either the same or its you want an external version of their internal one I can`t remember now

from all the VN's i have seen they have internal fuel pumps. the VL's are internal except for the turbo's. i'm assuming longlux is after external one and run it in line with the existing hilux fuel tank.

VL's should all have an external fuel pump, whether turbo or not. Every VL I looked under at the wrecker had an external pump(although most were missing). I'm pretty sure they run both an internal and external fuel pump. I'm not really sure why they have both, since I've been running just the external pump on my Hilux for a while and it seems to work fine.
I assume Skylines with the same motor may also have an external pump, but not sure about that.

skyline is internal but could be modified as external

Just use a V6 4Runner one , has enough flow to cope with the commodore motor.

The reason for the two pumps is that the high pressure pump has very little ability to "suck" The low pressure one will suck the fuel up from the bottom of the tank & deliver it to the external high pressure pump.
If you are running an external pump with no low pressure feed pump you will need to mount the external pump low as if it too high it just wont draw out of the tank.
If you are using an non-efi tank, you may want to invest in a surge tank to prevent any fuel starvation. As non efi tank doesn't have as much internal baffeling as an efi one.
A surge tank is a small fuel resevoir (about 1L capacity). with 1 inlet (from interal low pressure pump) at the top, overflow a few cm's down from the top & an outlet feed to the high pressure pump at the very bottom. They are normally made from 150ish diameter pipe and about 500 long.
It ensures that the high pressure pump always has a constant feed of fuel. If you have wheelin at angles, the fuel may flow away from the pickup for a few seconds, which results in air being sucked up. High pressure pumps & injectors don't really appreciate this. Ricers/Racers use this method for guarenteed 100% fuel flow.
I second the camira option, go for the JE model (1986) as these were the same as the VL commodore ones without the huge price markup that wreckers ask for VL ones. I used one when I converted my car from carby to EFI supercharged.

vk injected motor ran an external pump that would work fine plenty of these on ebay

This is great advice if you want to have no problems with fuel starvation/or whatever its called...the vl is external,with internal suction pump, vn and later internal...and thats for a reason....more reliable to pump fuel when in the tank.....
get a runna tank with pump in it and get the lines whilst there....
