Hey i've just taken off my canopy and it looks funny cos the tub is long and needs sumfin else so i'm lookin at puttin a 'showpony' roll bar on my hilux not a proper exo cage,
I can't afford $700-$900 to get an ally one on so gonna make it outta steel 3-4" Pipe or sumfin, I want like 2 bars going from side to side an then one going back.
Any one got one similar on there rig?? Pictures of rollbars would help alot to give me an idea of what would look good. :D :D :D :D

i got mine for $100 off some bloke who had it on his SR5 DC lux. looks ok, but i wouldn't rely on it in a rollover

$100 FARK!! yeh nah all factory roll bars wouldn't do shit in a rollover. There purely for looks. The cheapest one in the quokka in perth has been $400!!! but the sr5 ones look pretty average on the single cabs cos the trays so long. Thats why I need like 2 bars going over or possibly 3 like this one, but without the stupid bar at the back.

oi badlux, just keep your eye on ebay and the trading post as i see them in there all the time. people get a SR5 and then put a canopy on it then have no need for the bar. thats what happened with mine.

thats SICK!!! I wanna bob my tray now.. how much effort was it???
The only thing stopping me is the fact I'd have to get rid of towbar and my boxes in the tray would have to go :-(

A it of effort in the marking out,the cutting was easy and with help from an accomplished welder the rejoin was without problem. I have bogged and started sanding just about ready for paint now.

DO IT - i tossed the towbar and am drawing up plans for a rear bar incorporating SHS piece in it towbar. i havent hit anouther thing in the rear and can comfortably take it off near shear drops and drive out unharmed. Move the boxes they can be replaced (if they are space cases see the wanted section - i'm looking!!) :D

It looks funny not on the car, but basically the long straight bit sits down in the well body then were it kinks is the start of the cab so it follows the slight angle the cab is, the back arm mounts onto the wheel arch in the tray so it sits forward alot more than what it looks like in the photo's. I'll put it on tonight hopefully, thats if I can make up the plates I need to mount on the other side of the tray to make it nice and strong.
