Starting again!

Well guy’s looks like I will be getting another zuk soon. I have been wheelless for long enough, so much so I was thinking I shouldn’t even be allowed to post in the zuk section.

Well the new build will have to be done on the cheap! The purpose of it will be for DD and fun runs in the mud and sand (low traction stuff).

I’ve been collecting a few things and I still have the OME N76 shocks and medium rears. I’m in the process of getting two lockers from oozuk. And lastly I will have some 31â€

Sounds good.

I like the ideas forming. Interested in looking at the bolt on 3/4.

I run 31's without hoppers but with the 1ltr case. Seems good. A bit lower would be good. If you are going to buy something anyway, I would look at the 4.16's

cheers

why modify the suspension at all for sand/mud :?: you don't need flex for that just lockers/ power/ gearing

i have 5.14's on order from 4WDUSA in bayswater ($1080)... calmini claims they allow onroad 32's...

however the difference between a stock 26" tyre and a 31" tyre is 19.2% so an 18.3% reduction is going to be pretty much perfect i reckon. plus the calmini kit comes with new gaskets and bearings and even oil! =D

Sounds like where I want to be, with the RUF, 3/4 and at least a rear locker.
Tell me when you're doing your RUF and/or 3/4, I'll come down and watch/lend a hand. Maybe do mine at the same time. I still have my stock zook springs if they're any good for the 3/4.

Got a zook to put all this stuff on anyways, you bandit?

by doing the RUF and 3/4 your ride quality also improves which can only be a good thing in a SWB Zuk :D

Yeah tell me about it. The first time I did it I couldn't beleive how #smooth# it had become. I could ramp the speed humps at the local woolies at speed without jarring my back.

I think the best thing with the new build will be the lockers. Unlike my last rig, no matter how big your tires are, if one's got no traction your going no where.

Old Gold, sure I'll give you a hand. it shouldn't take to much effort.

The biggest proplem I can envision is the shock mount and bump stop. I don't want to moddify that section of the chassis and I will have to build bolt on shock hoops and bumpstops around the exsisting.

When I put the shocks on I'm hoping to change the mount from the spring clamp to the diff itself. I've dented way to many shocks!

Mick you need flex if you want to get in or out of a rut that is the size of a small car

i've been running the 5.14 calmini gears with 31 bfg muds for a while, pretty happy with it - gearing is fine for 110 on the freeway, revs 'bout 3800 i think it was, tho mighta been a bit lower... haven't driven it for a while :D

good crawl too

stumped... what RPM at 100km/hr??? and is it calibrated 100km/hr or the 100km/hr on the speedo?

mine with the 1.6 and 215/75r15 does 3400 at 100km/hr calibrated. speedo reads about 92km/hr.

Dewse - when it comes to doing up graphics to go on it, im ya man =P email me when you have a name for the build and ill do something aka Mark's Dung Beetle (vit buggy).

Alein I'm hoping to put this on the bonnet or something

Zuk Wars
Rissole Strikes Back

I think stumped means 3800 at a real speed of 100kmh. Please try not to hijack though...

hey not wheeless just Zukless well atually not Zukless motivationless.

Dewse good to see you're getting back into it. I came very close a couple of times of just getting a stocker and slightly modding it and having fun with it. It was always more fun when the car was less modded and more reliable

well im a graphic designer so i use industry standard products... this one is a vector made in Adobe Illustrator CS, as was mark's dung beetle graphic.

just used a "empire strikes back" image off the net as a rough guide to the layout and created it from there =)

i reckon he should have it in reflective yellow vinyl on the doors / boonet of his zuk! hehe itll glow like hell at night.

I think if he puts that on his car and dares to take it out of his driveway he'll have a large queue of people asking "What the hell does that mean?" closely followed by another bunch saying "Dude, that looks so gay!"

It's all to do with Rangie chic (aka rissole) and all the zuk boys (RB and Tim) fighting over her. It was something Grimace made up one day in off topic. I suppose you had to be there to find it funny, and you would need to know what happened at NYE 2005.

Well, you'd get three laughs and leave 19.999 million people confused, they're not the best odds out!
Is it a bad sign that your sticker is garnering more attention and discussion than your planned rig & mods?

Why do people buy mustangs....

Old Gold I don't think 19 999 milloin people will see it. So the odds are better then what your thinking. who I don't care if nobody gets it. It's like P*C*O*D... nobody got that til it was explained.

Aas for this rig... My olds are really against me on this so it will be a struggle to say the least.

Grimbo, I fully agree with what you said. not having to worry about breaking, getting pulled over etc etc. Thier is also the challange to beat other cars. Just don't forget, someone has to lose for their to be a winner!

Hey, you mentioned three names, I was giving you the benefit of everyone in Australia seeing it, cmon! I'm just pulling ya chain mate

Don't listen to your parents dude, what do they know, they gave birth to you so they can't be all that full of great ideas! I hope you have the quokka in front of you right now! If you buy a cheapish rig and do cheapish mods and still have it as a daily it's not gunna cost you big bucks - I think you just need to budget better. You can have your cake and eat it too if you're smart about it.

Yeah true Old Gold, i'm their don't worry about it. Why would I buy a quokka when I have internet!!

I don't think they upload all of the ads to the website. I'm not sure but. I just prefer to buy it, at least you know what you're getting then.
If you ever need someone to scope a car for you NOR through the day, feel free to ring me, I usually have time on my hands.

Just hang out for the right car at the right price - theres enough zooks out there and enough idiots who don't know what they're worth to make it worth hanging out for. My boss has spent less than three grand and he has a running liscenced Sierra, a Vit, two wrecked barinas for parts and Nathan's rig. Too bad they're just collecting dust now

You gotta buy a car anyways, it may as well be a zook. Transportation and a hobby all in one.
