Hi guys,

I'v just checked the oil in the mav (tb42 carby) and found its got a fair bit of water in there. :bad-words: I realize the head is probably cracked so i was just wondering what people have paid to get their heads taken off and recoed or for a new/reconditioned head and fittament?

Also who have people had the work done by in south eastern melbourne that they have been happy with?

Cheers,

BEn

I had my head reco'd about 12 month's ago and cost about $2400
but that was the head being worked. EG different valves and port and polish and the head shaved. made a big power increase.

I discovered the dreaded coffee coloured oil about a 18 months ago.

I paid $1850 for a TB42 head with new everything on it.
It also has the muti bypass kit fitted to it and came with the modified (hy flow) water pump, thermostat and VRS gasket set.
I got the lot from All head services. It also came with 12 months/20000 kms warranty.

Its probably a bit overkill, but I am determined not to let this happen again.

Its been very good so far. Barely goes above half way on hot summer days.

my dad did exactly the same by the sounds of it. and his temperature gadge runs very low and it takes longer for the car to get to normal temperature too. now he never has a problem with overheating. although his radiator isnt full of shit like mine :D but when mine was perfectly spotless, it doesnt even get close to where his temp is.
