Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hey all,
Just wondering what hole size is required to fit a snorkel to my GQ tb4.2.
If i can't get my hands on the right size hole saw, i'll have the snorkel fitted by a shop, not worth the cost of a new hole saw.

I used a 92mm hole saw (same size to fit a downlight) and attatched a long arbour to guide it in the curved guard. Fits ok.

If you dont have access to the corect(ish) size holesaw Ive seen it done by drilling a series of smaller holes and joining them up with a hacksaw before finishing with a file (it doesnt matter what it looks like as it will be covered by the snorkel body)

I use a nibbler at work and it makes a neat job in seconds.

failing that you could just pay a shop to cut the hole and fit the rest yourself (better because you know it will be watertight!)

The first time i used tin snips and went around and around like a corkscrew, then filed it. But it looked like shit. But the snorkel does cover it up (as long as u dont go too big!).

local dude here charges under $100 for fitting. mate bought all the tools to do it, cost him $200. but he didnt buy anything that was crap, all expensive tools etc.

I just used an air nibbler that cost $99 (i think) from supercheap, I figured it would probably come in handy for other jobs in the future... of course it hasn't yet, but one day I'll be putting a snorkel on something else I guess.

GQ96, if you're in melbourne, you can borrow my 3 1/8" hole saw. it cost me $60 with an arbor but i will definitely get a fair bit of use from it.

Nah, I'm in brisbane. thanks anyway. I'm sure i'll be able to get my hands on a hole saw that is smaller than required then just hack it out until its big enough. As you say, its gonna be covered up. just the rougher it is, the more chance of rust. Will have to slop the touch up paint on. The only problem is i want it for the trip to ormeu (spelling) on the 22nd of may and i have 4 assignments due and an exam in the next two weeks and i have to work heaps (to pay for all this)

when i did my lux, i drilled a half inch hole, then trimmed the rest out with an air body saw

Yeah, you can borrow my nibbler unless you are planning to really trash it. You can pick it up in Pascoe Vale South.

Lemme just find it first. I lent it to BeastMavster in Brisbane, I hope I got it back before I moved to Melbourne!
