depends on the engineer. If they are approved for 8inch rims, then pretty much any.. the recommended rim size was the issue when I was going to do it. then also the brake stoppin test to make sure your brakes are at their best on the day.

I am assuming that all ET2's and JT2's will not pass given they are bias ply?

according to another thread yes - except if the truck came with OEM Bias Ply.

For any tyre to be engineered, it has to match or exceed the manufacturers specified speed and load ratings. Most bias ply tyres are not speed rated, ie. Swampers, except the Q78, but I beleive it is not load rated. So BFG, MTR, STT's should, in most cases, be fine.

I think NSW laws are very relaxed when it comes to engineers certificates. I know of a BJ73 engineered with 38" swampers, when swampers are completely illegal, no matter what size.

Vic laws are more stringent, so it would be interesting to see any VIC cars engineered with 35" tyres.

Bill... AKA Daddylonglegs on this forum has had 2 vehicles engineered with Q78 Swampers in Victoria... so I dont know where you got that Swampers are illegal.. or that 35's are either... and I believe a 16" Q78 measures at around 36".........
