Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hi Guys,

I have a sprung over MK shorty, sd33T. Ever since the spring over the trucks had a bad lean to the drivers side. I always thought it was that my springs where buggered.

Put new emu dakars in the front end the other day and she still leans to the drivers side (30mm out on bump stops). ARB said the drivers leaf is rated for extra weight due to the gear box and transfer being off centre.

I've managed to get the truck level by adding the extra heavy duty leaf (which came with the emu dakars) to the drivers spring pack. This means I now have different spring rates, not sure how this effects me...

ARB fella recons I shouldn't need to do what I've done and somethings not right... any suggestions??

- The drivers spring is definately compressed more, not just mount height issues
- I've swapped rear springs with no effect
- No heavy toolboxs ect.

most MQ/MKs ive seen do it, including mine, i just added one extra leave to the drivers rear pack.

not only does it keep it level but when the motor torques down, its always on the drivers rear short side axle on the MQ/MKs so it helps to stop that leave pack from buggering up quicker.....

the only other thing i can think of is sticky shocks holding it down a touch, of the springs are soft it may be causing just enough....

Also will happen if the chassis has twisted at all, ie ever been in an acco atc

That would mean that nearly every MQ/MK ive seen has a twisted chasis. Mine is leaning, i just took away a couple of leaves to level it out.

yeh mines leaning again with the new springs, gunna need to take another one out of passenger side

and to think i was worried about taking out leaves from my leaf packs that run 6 in ea corner

let me see, i have 5 in each front

and 4 in the rear pass and 5 in the rear drivers now....

used to be less but they were 'W' on me too often so they had to get strengthened up

unreal to hear other people do this, the arb guy recons there is no reason to have different leaf pack sizes. Interesting to hear your varying the rear pack... I put the high lift under the rear drivers corner and it didn't seem to bring the front end up much. On the Nissan specs, the front drivers spring is ment to be rated for an extra 70-150kg's apparently... the rears are identical

yeah well old cars champ, been around, but not all are due to an acco, and not all twist due to chassis twisted just one reason it COULD be
