2y motor

Guys, I'm looking at a toyota hilux ute with a 2Y motor 4 speed, 1881 mod. What are these motors like, I've searched the web can't find any tech detail at all. Need to know about fuel economy etc. Thanks for ya help.

Are you sure its an 2y an a 1881 model
are you talking about 2wd

got a 2y motor in my 1988 mod 2wd hilux with a 4speed
they need a 5th gear as it screems at a 110 km and the motor aint the powerfullest
altho i am lining up a replacement motor n box , v8 5 speed
but if your not in a rush n its your first rig it certainly won't hurt to learn drivin n modifyin too

yeah I made a typo, its a 1991 model, 2wd ute. Its advertised for $3500 big ones, 4 speed, alloy tray in reasonable condition. Only problem is its got 290 000 k's on the clock, although motor seems fine. Ta.
