Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I have been looking at doing a suspension lift on my ifs hilux. probably a 4.5'' superlift or 4'' pro comp kit. has anyone does this to theirs? are there ne problems with doing it?
i am aware its illegal in qld but how strictly is this rule enforced?

IMO i wouldnt waste my money on one of these kits.......... i'd put the money into doing a solid front swap which could be done for the same amount of dollars :wink:

i looked into doing this with mine but it gives you no advantages really other then letting you run 35's.............still fark all travel, still weak sh!t front cv's.

put the money into solid front
mine may not be the best job but its still goin

i wouldnt bother either i looked into such kits and 1 of my mates got it done yes it looks good but 33s still scrub i am going for the solid front swap sake racing supply a good kit for a good price and you end up higher than standard but they are based in nsw

Argh thats the way, LIFT it as high as you can go and then LIFT it some more.

Then watch it tip first time you go out!!!!!

Lift isn't everything!!
Don't spend $4500.00 on just a lift, do a LIVE axle swap as suggested.

Now when you do the swap give it some lift but don't go over board.

if i was to do it again it would be no where near as big as it is but im gunna leave this one how it is.........im to lazy to do any thing now to it

do the solid front and keep it as low as possible :wink:

I looked at IFS lifts and decided they wernt worth the money. You are paying like 3 grand to basicly just space down your front suspension. In effect its the same as a hundred dollar body lift.
What I did was just do a 2 inch body lift and chucked on some longer shackles in the rear and cranked the front torsion bars just a little and fitted low profile bump stops. And fitted 32s (soon to be 33s!).
It does the job and only cost a couple of hundred bucks at the most.
I do want to do a SAS with coil overs one day though .

Oh and from what I have heard fitting 35s to IFS is not a good idea. The front diff CVs and steering system is pretty puny.

i already got a 2'' body lift and 2'' suspension lift with the standard springs and shocks . its actually not too bad, even though the ifs doesnt have much travel at all, but id like a bit more clearance and so i was looking at the kit.

the solid axle conversion sounds good but i dont know about gettin it passed here in qld, cause qld transport are a bit anal when it comes to 4wd's.

There are 2 that i know of here in QLD that are transport approved!!

This wont be a drama at all and if you need i can give you a number of a guy that will have no problems engineering it for you as long as it is done right.
I have dropped front hangers and cross over steering and a whole lot of other mods and he has no problems with engineering my rig when i finaly get it back on the road. And no he is not Dodgy he is straight down the line. As long as the work has been done in a satisfactory way you will have no problems.

as good as the solid axle conversion sounds,i was looking at the kit so that when i deicde to sell the truck i can get it pulled out and hopefully wont affect the resale to greatly. where as that could be a bit harder if i did the solid axle swap
i can get a pro comp kit fitted for about 1500 from a bloke i know who imprts them, i was just seeing if the kits were any good or just garbage.
