Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Ok, I have to paint a 75 series troopy.

Only needs to be done quicky and not professional by any means.

I know some of you guys just use rattle cans; I just want to know,

How many will I need to do a complete truck?
What is the best paint to use?
Is there a better way?
Opinions?

I've done two bodgy paint jobs to 2 old junkers of mine:

First was to a Datta 240K - took about 10 spray cans to provide a spotchy & runny finish.....oh yeah the was simply spraying direct over the existing paint - didn't wanna waste time rubbing the sucker back :wink: Ops sorry I did give it a quick buff with the elecric sander just to help the spray paint purchase.....

Second home paint job was to an old Valiant 2door ..... use about 4 litres of white house paint & a brush......actually worked bloody great and didn't look toooooo bad if I was building a beater - I'd DEFINATELY go the brush option again

depends on how much you wanna spend id use a decent spray can atleast not the $3 exort type bargin brands

decent paint is about $10 a can

i personally like krylon but its a bit more expensive

Get a hold of someones compressor, white paint aint expensive, thinners etc. I just painted a mates hilux, minus tray, for around $120 (yellow)

is this the one that was for sale on here a while back?

If it is the standard toyota commercial white it would be cheaper to hire a compressor, buy the paint and spray it than buying that many aerosols..

I must point out, this is to be a real dodgy job.

This truck was given to us to use for ski competitions and for driving between the ski resorts NSW and VIC. Planning on orange or similar, not white.

Some parts can stay white, it doesnt really matter we just have to paint over the logos and paint work already on it from an old sponsor.

So cheap and nasty is the best bet. If I can get hold of an aircompressor for free and paint for free, then how much do i need to spend on paint?

Rattle can would be simpler.

OK i painted my zuk with spray cans. First paint job was Rivergum satin colorbond paint. It went on a treat 3 cans did the car with the only prep work being a good wash and a bit of sanding in a few places.

Second job was the current orange I have used 7 cans of white knight orange and it is still a bit ripe in places. I reckon to cover a troopy you would be upwards of 20 cans.

Why not just go and get it really muddy

I'd guess..................for free

Sounds like you definately need to use the brush approach - unless your in a hurry, then I'd recommend a roller
