Rear windscreen wiper arm - pain in the arse!!

Post by GWH »

G'day all, my rear windscreen wiper arm has frozen itself in the down position. Given that my 4WD is a hilux surf with an electric back window, i can no longer open the back of the vehicle with the wiper arm in the down position. (the back window has a cutoff if the wiper is down)

Anyone have any ideas on how to troubleshoot this??

will removing the wiper fix it?
Cheers

Maybe it's just a blown fuse for the rear wiper.Have you checked that.

Easiest solution is to wire the wiper arm in the up position. Then the rear window _SHOULD_ operate normally. The interlock switch for the rear wiper is actuated when the wiper is parked in it's cradle.

This is an area which gives lots of people grief from time to time. If there is enough interest I might do a bible entry for 4Runner / Surf rear window troubles. ( It will be a big job )
