Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I have a HG41 diff in my 89 GQ/Safari.

Transaxle no. FS5R50A HG41

I just recieved an email from the guy hows sorting out my locker and carrier.
He wants to know:
The spline count on the axels.
How many bolts hold the crown wheel on.
The out side diameter of the crown wheel.

If some one could magically produce this info on the net for me i would be stoked!!!
Save me having to pull my diff apart just yet. What a bastard that would be!!!!
Well probably not to much of a bastard, i just can't be farked.

I take it all HG41 diffs would be the same secifications. It would save me a shit load of work!!!

Front or rear locker??

Spline count is 31 front, 33 rear (assuming disk brakes).

I think the diff part number (H233B) denotes C/W diameter, so 233mm. Someone else will confirm hopefully.

Outa curiosity, where does the part number H233B come from??

Its not on the plate in the engine bay. Is it stamped on the diff, or is it somthing you deduce from the Transaxle number??

So maybe we can go one step better, what is the part number for the diff with the open carrier, it may help Ben at the Diff Shop track one down easier.

And to aid my LSD chase at a later date what is the front diff part number??

It just so happens i got a new job today, back up in Hamilton with Environment Waikato (gonna give the greenies a stir up) so i will be floating around Rottenrua during the weekends, so i may just do that

Part number comes from ARB website.

Front diff is H233B with 31 spline.
Rear is H233B with 33 spline, but has different locker part number for disk braked/drum braked models. H260 for leaf sprung cab/chassis.

Is a Geyserland 4WD CLub trip into Minginui next weekend if you're keen. I'm off to Masterton tonight to pick up the donor vehicle for our next race truck so will be busy on that from now on and unable to go, but you're more than welcom to tag along.

Unfortunatly i have to give a months notice down here.
So won't be going anywhere untill about the 16th of June.

I'm keen to track down that has a good mix of members and types of trips, not just hard nuts stuff for really modified vehicles.
I like the hard tracks, but like to be with vehicles of a similar capacity, so you don't just end up on a rope being dragged through every thing buy the guys on 35's with V8'S.
You talk to the waikto club guys and its all "Yeah man we went here and so and so blew his diff on the hill, and Some one else blew a CV here, and one trip we had a guy roll, three diffs blown etc etc etc. Not my idea of fun!!!!
Thats why i usually just go with mates.
Since I have been down here, i have joined the Nelson and Buller clubs and they have been really good, heaps of people on the same wave length, as well as the Hard Nuts guys.

Does the Geyserland club have a reasonable mix of members and levels of trips??

I just like his one of the 42nd for some reason. Probably cause it was the most interesting part........
