The BFG Krawler T/A KX, presently in pre-production in the USA will go to full production and be released world-wide in March of 2003 according to the folks at BFG that I spoke with last week at SEMA.

The tyre will be available in 35 x 13.50R x 15 & 37 x 12.50R x 17. The 37" version was clad on the "Liberty" that won the 2002 SuperKrawl. 2nd & 3rd place winners also ran this tyre. It is interesting to note that in SuperCrawl unlimted class, there were vehicles running 44" and larger meats.

Looks awesome pete,

Whats the go with these tyres, why do they work so well :?:

Is it something in the compound that makes them sticky or is it the tread pattern :?:

POS's Question ...

Now POS, don't you know that I don't know anything? How would I know, that's too technical for me. I just run drag slicks on the little project I am building in the shed at the moment. he, he, heeee. I really have been busy in the shed. he, he, heeee .....

I believe that most of their success is because they have a soft sticky compound and a reansonably tuff sidewall (better than an MTR). Also the type of courses they compete on dont require a 44in tyre.

The sidwalls on my mtr's are way stronger than bf's I have draged them along rocks that would have shredded a bf but didn't mark the mtr.

These new Krawlers, have they got something better than the 'Tri-guard' sidewall?

Will they be much improvement over the Mud-terrain for wet areas?

How much will they cost?

Who will buy them?.......anyone like the look of 'em? :?:

They are supposed to be much better in the side wall than any other radial. Much better than the Godyear MTR from the comp reports on the pirate bb. I think that these tyres are designed specifically for competition rock crawling and are way better at it than any other tyre for this job.

I had a drive on these tyres and the way they stick off camber going slow, and under power is superior to Swampers and Boggers by a long way. The 17" is also a big improvement, the vehicle bounces much less.

They won't come out in 40" though, only the MTR is coming in 40".

The other furphy I heard at pirate is that the Compounds for the public release and the comp tyres will be different so to gain better wear characteristics. Did you find out about this Pete. I am assuming though that BFG have finally got it together for the customer over there and know the clients are smarter than the average tyre buyer and will stay with the original compound.

Will any here contemplate running three sets of tyres if the Krawlers wear characteristics leave it in the realm of rock only. I suppose some here would do so now just through comp work and having a few sets left over they haven't been bothered to move outta the shed (from some sheds pics I have seen some of you guys should have a decent look around BJ you might already have a set of 44' boggers under some that shite, you just forgot  )

I guess we will have to just wait and see.........Cost anyone know what the Krawler will retail......
